AITHREN FR

Defence software that holds offline, under pressure, on the customer’s own machine.

A drone that loses its position when GNSS is jammed. A logistics cell rebuilding the picture by hand. A medical cell that must decide on an evacuation in minutes.

AITHREN answers these three situations with three software products that share the same principles: they run without a network, on the customer’s hardware, and a human decides.

Three solutions, the same principles

Reconnaissance, logistics, medical: three trades, one standard. Computation on board or on the customer’s machine, no data leaving, a human deciding. Knarr and Eira run entirely offline, on an ordinary computer.

Reconnaissance

Navigation and detection: exist (simulation)

Autonomy and navigation for small drones and robots, even without GNSS or a link: position held day and night, on-board detection, discretion.

  • Position held within a few metres by day, without GNSS.
  • Position held within about ten metres at night.
  • Drift kept under control for the whole mission with the low-cost sensors already on board.

AITHREN Knarr

Logistics

Exists (simulation)

The offline logistics copilot: logistic picture, 24 and 48 hour projections, resupply plan across trucks, robots and cargo drones.

  • Standard-format logistics reports read and the picture built automatically: stock against requirement, days of supply, status now and at +24 / +48 h, stock-out alerts.
  • A resupply plan across trucks, ground robots and cargo drones, trading lateness against exposure to threat areas, checked against projected shortfalls.
  • Drone and robot missions exported in standard autopilot formats.

AITHREN Eira

Logistics

MVP (simulation)

Medical evacuation decision support: compared options, a human validating every evacuation.

  • Evacuation options ranked by delay, precedence and receiving capacity, with a warning when a destination fills beyond capacity.
  • Blocked evacuations and medical resupply handled in the same plan.
  • Human validation of every evacuation, recorded.

One operation, three solutions

One operation, from reconnaissance to resupply and evacuation: each solution takes over where it is useful.

1 km ribbon: position uncertainty (illustrative) inertial alone: ≈ 4 km drift
An 11.9 km reconnaissance without GNSS, then the logistics and evacuation that follow. Illustrative scenario on synthetic terrain. The figures quoted come from the simulations detailed below.
  1. 1 T+00:00

    Launch

The mission is prepared on the ground and loaded on board. Nothing that follows needs a link.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  2. 2 T+02:00

    GNSS jammed

The satellite position disappears. On-board navigation takes over and holds the position within a few metres.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  3. 3 T+09:00

    Night

At night, the position stays held within about ten metres.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  4. 4 T+11:00

    On-board detection

Two vehicles and a group of people are detected by the drone and scored for confidence; a human reviews the detections at the station.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  5. 5 T+14:00

    Spoofing detected

A fake GNSS signal reappears. It is recognised and rejected in under two seconds instead of being followed.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  6. 6 T+20:00 Roadmap

    Link lost

The mission continues without a link. Observations come back as soon as possible, without giving the drone away.

    AITHREN Lodestone

  7. 7 T+31:00

    Logistics and evacuation

Reliable information reaches the C2. Knarr updates the logistic picture and proposes the resupply; Eira ranks the evacuation options. A human decides.

Simulation results

Every figure comes from simulations on open or synthetic data. No flight test and no operational data yet.

Simulation, open or synthetic data

Simulation results
Solution and condition Result
Lodestone, inertial sensor alone (reference) ≈ 4.4 km error (CEP50)
Lodestone, day, without GNSS 2.7 to 4.3 m (CEP50)
Lodestone, night, without GNSS 11 to 17 m (CEP50) depending on terrain
Lodestone, GNSS spoofing detected in 1 to 2 s, position held
Knarr, synthetic brigade 20 of 20 projected stock-outs removed, 76 trips on time
Eira, synthetic scenario ranked options, every evacuation validated by a human

Test protocols are written before the simulations, and results are reported as they are, failures included.

Principles

  1. Offline first: everything runs without a network, on the machine or on board.
  2. Operated by the customer on its own network: we never see its data.
  3. Sovereign dependencies: open French data, components chosen to stay under control.
  4. Secure by design: no telemetry, no cloud, no third-party service.
  5. Human in the loop: no autonomous lethal function. Autonomy serves navigation, search, reporting and logistics.

Roadmap

  1. Oct 2026 → Mar 2027

    Phase 0, Foundation

Night GNSS-free flight at 50 m CEP or better over 5 km; logistic picture produced automatically; first letters of intent.

  2. 2027 → 2028

    Phase 1, Prove

Lodestone integrated on two or three platforms and field-tested; Knarr and Eira evaluated on an exercise.

  3. 2028 → 2030

    Phases 2 and 3, Qualify

Full red-team test set, first orders, Lodestone station v1, production partners.

What we propose to partners

  • Flight trials on a partner platform: we provide the software brick and the test protocol.
  • An evaluation of Knarr or Eira on a training scenario, with synthetic or non-classified data provided by the partner.
